How do I know therapy is right for me?

If you are looking for a safe space to be able to process your thoughts and feelings, therapy is right for you. If you are looking to heal, release and move on from hard moments in your life, therapy is right for you. If you want to be able to grow and shift your mindset on how your approach life, therapy is right for you.

What is your theoretical background?

I counsel from an Existential therapy lens while utilizing Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solutions Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I want my clients to always feel seen and heard during the sessions. I value a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients and ensure our counseling relationship is built on an honest and transparent relationship.

How will I know my therapy sessions are working?

You will know therapy is working when you start to feel “lighter”. You will notice a shift in your mindset and how you look at your life.  You will feel more sure of yourself and start to feel more confident. In our counseling sessions, we will work on various tools you can use to help you improve your daily life. As a result of the sessions and using your inner tools, you will begin to heal various areas of your life.

How long does therapy last?

How long therapy lasts is different for each client. Every client has certain things they want to work on in therapy. Depending on the topics you want to address and work on, this will determine how long you decide to remain in therapy.

Are the sessions virtual?

Yes, all sessions are virtual at this time.

How long are individual sessions?

The individual sessions are 50 minutes. If you would like a more intensive session for 90 minutes, please talk to me and we can get it scheduled.

Do you conduct therapy sessions in all states?

Right now, I only conduct therapy sessions in the state of North Carolina.

Do you take insurance?

I am not currently an in-network provider for any commercial insurance panels at this time. I am an out-of-network provider for therapy services. Please review and contact your insurance provider directly to verify your out-of-network benefits prior to the first session. If you intend to use your out-of-network benefits , I will provide you with a Super Bill which is a billing statement that you will use to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Why are you not taking insurance?

Typically insurance companies require a clinical diagnosis before they will grant payment for services. A mental health diagnosis then becomes a part of your permanent insurance record. Receiving counseling services does not always result in the need for a mental health diagnosis to solve what is causing your distress. While having a diagnosis can prove useful, it is not necessary or required for the growth and change that comes as a result of our therapy sessions.

What are your payment methods and when is payment due?

Payment can be made via credit card or health savings account (HSA). Payment is due prior to the beginning of each session. Your credit card payment will be automatically charged the day of each session.

What is your cancellation policy?

Sessions need to be canceled at minimum 24 hours in advance via email. If you are unable to cancel 24 hours in advance or no show for your appointment, you will be charged the full cost of one therapy session.
